The stated goal is to prevent the transmission of vibrations to the building\u2019s structure and to keep the pump unit stable, without losing alignment. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, the mounting system must be designed to support the unit\u2019s operation, not just to \u201chold it in place\u201d during installation.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"uni-11292-entrata-in-vigore-e-punto-di-riferimento\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">UNI 11292: Effective Date and Reference Point<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new edition of <strong>UNI 11292<\/strong> took effect on <strong>February 14, 2020<\/strong>. The explicit reference for the methods of securing pumping units (PUMP-SET) is <strong>section 6.6<\/strong> of the standard, titled \u201cFastening Systems.\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the guideline to follow when determining the support and anchoring solution for the room.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"requisito-base-fondazione-e-resistenza-ai-carichi\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic Requirement: Foundation and Load-Bearing Capacity<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility must have a <strong>support surface (foundation)<\/strong> for the pumping unit capable of ensuring adequate resistance to <strong>the static and dynamic loads<\/strong> of the unit itself.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This requirement is the foundation: even before discussing brackets, anchors, or other solutions, a suitable foundation is needed to support the pump unit.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"ancoraggio-cementazione-e-controllo-delle-vibrazioni\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anchoring\/Cementing and Vibration Control<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To prevent vibrations from the unit from being transmitted to the building\u2019s structure, <strong>appropriate anchoring systems<\/strong> must be provided, or the pump unit <strong>must be set in concrete<\/strong> (see Figure 3).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, the mounting system must have mechanical properties that allow it to <strong>withstand the unit\u2019s vibration during operation<\/strong>. Therefore, simply \u201canchoring\u201d it is not enough: the solution must be compatible with the unit\u2019s vibrational behavior during operation. <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"stabilita-e-allineamento-nel-tempo-cosa-deve-garantire-il-fissaggio\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stability and Alignment Over Time: What a Fastening System Must Ensure<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Section 6.6 also clarifies an often-overlooked requirement: the fastening system must ensure:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>stability<\/strong> of the pump unit;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alignment<\/strong> of the pump unit <strong>over time<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means that testing should not be limited to the initial installation phase: the solution must remain effective over time, throughout the unit\u2019s service life.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"attenzione-ai-territori-con-caratteristiche-sismiche\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be aware of areas with seismic characteristics<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rules require that installations in <strong>areas with seismic characteristics<\/strong> be <strong>carefully evaluated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section does not provide any further operational details; however, the message is clear\u2014the installation context affects the choice of fasteners and must be specifically taken into account.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"evitare-carichi-sulle-flange-il-ruolo-dei-sostegni\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avoiding Loads on Flanges: The Role of Supports<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to foundation and vibration considerations, UNI 11292 also requires attention to system design: <strong>loads on the pump flanges<\/strong> must be avoided by installing <strong>appropriate supports<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, the mounting and alignment must be set up so that the pumps are not \u201cloaded\u201d onto the flanges due to improper configurations or supports.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"che-cose-ununita-di-pompaggio-pump-set-secondo-la-norma\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a pump unit (PUMP-SET) according to the standard?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To correctly interpret the regulations governing the installation of pump-sets, it is essential to understand what is meant by \u201cpump unit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The definition (section <strong>3.15<\/strong>) states that<strong>a pump set<\/strong> is an assembly comprising:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a <strong>pump<\/strong> with its <strong>motor<\/strong> and <strong>coupling system<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>any <strong>base<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>command and control center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes it clear that the \u201cpart\u201d that needs to be properly secured is the PUMP-SET as a whole, not just the pump.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"regole-operative-e-conseguenze-pratiche-cosa-non-e-consentito\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operating Rules and Practical Implications (What Is Not Permitted)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Given that <strong>each individual pumping unit (PUMP-SET) must be secured independently<\/strong> to the support surface, it follows that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each <strong>PUMP-SET must be individually secured<\/strong> to the support surface;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fastening must be done using <strong>anchors directly embedded in the concrete<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The pump units <strong>must not transmit vibrations<\/strong> to the building&#8217;s structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on these points, the text draws some clear operational conclusions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It is not possible<\/strong> to use <strong>floating sheet-metal floors<\/strong> supported by metal profiles attached directly to the building&#8217;s structure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It is not possible<\/strong> to use <strong>compact pressurization units<\/strong> in which the individual PUMP-SETs are mounted on an additional common base fixed to the floor;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anti-vibration mounts<\/strong> <strong>cannot be<\/strong> used under the frames of individual PUMP-SET units.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final criterion is explicit: <strong>only PUMP-SET units that are independent of one another<\/strong> may be installed; they must be secured individually to the concrete support surface and comply with the distances specified in the rules.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"esempio-di-soluzione-corretta-figura-3\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example of a Correct Solution (Figure 3)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The example indicated as correct is<strong>the anchoring of the PUMP-SET to the concrete support surface<\/strong>, as specified in UNI 11292:2019 (see Figure 3).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, examples to avoid are cited, including:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mounting PUMP-SET units on a floating floor supported by metal profiles (not permitted);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mounting with vibration dampers (not permitted).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"conclusione\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the report, the installation of pump-sets requires a clear approach: <strong>a suitable foundation<\/strong>, <strong>independent anchoring of each pump-set<\/strong> with <strong>concrete anchors<\/strong>, control of <strong>vibration transmission<\/strong>, and attention to <strong>flange loads<\/strong> through supports.
