Case Study
Carel Industries S.p.A.

Carel Industries combines innovation and safety: protecting its facilities and two laboratories (thermodynamics and humidification) is an integral part of the company’s philosophy. To ensure state-of-the-art protection and efficient maintenance, Carel required a comprehensive fire protection solution that could be integrated with its building automation systems and was compatible with the company’s production standards.

Client requirements

It was necessary to install a fire suppression system capable of:
  • protect the entire operational facility and the state-of-the-art laboratories;
  • comply with applicable regulations and ensure ease of maintenance;
  • integrate with the company’s control systems and, if possible, with the building automation system;
  • Minimize on-site work and commissioning time.

Idroelettrica's proposal

Idroelettrica provided a turnkey solution based on the FIREBLOCK system (pump room + integrated water reservoir) with the following key features:
  • FIREBOX/FIREBLOCK prefabricated module, complete with a water supply system to protect the entire building;
  • electrical panel controlled by a state-of-the-art EPRO electronic control unit, providing full control, diagnostics, and integration with building automation systems;
  • Design, construction, and installation carried out according to the client’s requirements, with follow-up at every stage: from design to commissioning;
  • Simple installation: place it on the floor slab, secure it at the designated points, and keep plumbing and electrical connections to a minimum;
  • Components and manufacturing that meet the customer’s required standards for reliability and durability.

The Result

The implementation of the FIREBLOCK system has enabled Carel to have a ready-to-use, compliant, and easily maintainable fire suppression system. The concrete benefits:
  • quick installation with minimal on-site work;
  • immediate provision of design services upon acceptance;
  • advanced control and integration with building automation via the EPRO control unit;
  • Greater safety for operators, laboratories, and the plant, with lower costs and shorter commissioning times.
Idroelettrica thus provided an international client with an effective, tailor-made technical and operational solution.
