With the opening of the new logistics hub in Sant’Eusebio (MO), OCMIS Irrigazione S.p.A. has increased its production capacity and strengthened its efforts to optimize water use, in response to the growing problem of drought linked to climate change. As part of this development project, client requirements arose to equip the entire complex with a fire protection water supply system suited to its new size and safety requirements.

Client requirements

The client needed:
  • a fire protection system designed for the new logistics hub and the existing facility;
  • compliance with the relevant standards (UNI EN 12845 and UNI 10779);
  • reliability and service continuity through a sub-pump system, reducing issues related to inlet and priming;
  • A pre-assembled solution designed to reduce installation time and simplify maintenance tasks.

Idroelettrica's proposal

In collaboration with the client’s design firm, Idroelettrica proposed an integrated FIREBOX fire suppression module with VTP, compliant with UNI EN 12845 and UNI 10779, with the following features:
  • VTP (Vertical Turbine Pumps) main pumps, suitable for supplying water from a reserve and ensuring continuity;
  • pressurization unit in a hydraulically underpressure configuration;
  • a system that is fully assembled, both electrically and hydraulically, and ready for quick connections on-site;
  • A configuration designed to meet the client requirements for the new campus and the expansion of the historic campus.

The Result

The installation of the upgraded FIREBOX VTP has made it possible to meet the fire safety needs of both the new logistics hub and the historic headquarters, ensuring adequate protection for the entire complex. The result is greater safety for the facility and its staff, with a system that complies with rules and is designed for long-term reliability.
