Abafoods S.r.l. has launched a major expansion and structural improvement project involving two existing prefabricated buildings (built in 2010 and 2012) in Badia Polesine and an operational office in Viadana (MN). As part of the effort to comply with fire safety regulations, the client—through its designer—requested a comprehensive, reliable solution that could be installed quickly, minimizing on-site construction work.

Client requirements

The project required:
  • bringing buildings into compliance with current fire prevention regulations;
  • Complete fire protection systems for two sites with different client requirements (production/logistics and offices);
  • solutions that can be installed behind the main circuit breaker to maximize reliability and continuity;
  • Reduced construction time and costs thanks to pre-assembled, ready-to-connect modules.

Idroelettrica's proposal

Idroelettrica has proposed a customized configuration for each site, based on integrated FIREBLOCK modules:

Badia Polesine Office

  • FIREBLOCK with a fire suppression pressurization system compliant with UNI EN 12845:2020.
  • Pump configuration: 2 main diesel motor pumps + 1 Jockey Pump.
  • Under-sill installation.
  • Main pump: standardized single-impeller end-suction centrifugal pump, horizontal back-pull-out shaft, spiral casing with independent support, axial inlet and radial outlet (ref. UNI EN 12845:2020 §10.1).
  • Pre-assembled double-walled vertical water storage tank, capacity 450 m³.

Operations Office in Viadana (MN)

  • FIREBLOCK with a fire suppression pump-set in an under-sash configuration.
  • Pump configuration: 1 main electric pump + 1 Jockey Pump.
  • Horizontal water reservoir with a capacity of 50 m³.

The Result

The supply of pre-assembled FIREBLOCK systems provided the customer with a complete, ready-to-install fire protection solution, avoiding additional costs associated with complex assembly and supplementary plumbing connections on-site. The project ensured:
  • compliance with applicable rules;
  • faster and neater installation;
  • easier maintenance;
  • adequate fire protection tailored to the different client requirements of the two sites.
