Cantine Riunite & Civ

Cantine Riunite & CIV has launched a project to innovate water management at its Glera vineyard in Carlino (55 ha), with the goal of optimizing nutrition and irrigation, improving plant protection, and reducing inputs with a view toward environmental and economic sustainability. The project required an underground system that is fully automated and can be managed remotely.

Client requirements

It was necessary to install a comprehensive and reliable irrigation system for 55 ha of vineyards, with the following specific requirements:
  • full automation and Remote monitoring and control of the system from headquarters;
  • underground infrastructure to minimize interference with the vineyard;
  • independent water supply via an artesian well;
  • a submersible pump and a pressurization system sized to ensure constant flow rate and pressure;
  • Valve opening system and remote communication (GPRS) for centralized management.

Idroelettrica's proposal

Following a site inspection and technical-geological analysis, Idroelettrica proposed and built a turnkey plant that included the following supplies and construction work:
  • drilling and construction of an artesian well for local water supply;
  • supply and installation of an 11-kW submersible pump (flow rate 30 m³/h at 4 atm);
  • control panel with an inverter and pressure transducer for precise control of the flow rate and system protection;
  • main line maintained under constant pressure by a 300-liter pressure tank;
  • installation of underground pipes and fittings for the entire irrigation network;
  • supply of the valve-opening transmission system, complete with transmitters, receivers, electrical components, and an antenna;
  • GPRS system integration with a SIM card and modem for remote monitoring and control from a remote station (Campegine, RE);
  • Management of geological procedures and on-site commissioning for system calibration and optimization.

The result

The system has enabled full automation and Remote monitoring and control of irrigation for the 55-hectare vineyard. The customer can now remotely control and monitor all irrigation operations, optimizing water use, reducing energy consumption thanks to the inverter, and improving the agronomic and phytosanitary sustainability of the crops.
