Ecoprogetto Venezia s.r.l.

As part of an integrated project to upgrade the plant complex—which also aims to generate energy through the co-combustion of CSS—Ecoprogetto Venezia requested the optimization of the fire suppression system. The goal was to replace the distributed pump units with a single, modern solution that could be monitored remotely and integrated with the PLCs controlling the production lines.

Client requirements

The client requested:
  • a single pumping station capable of supplying the entire complex, replacing the distributed units;
  • integration with control systems (PLCs) and the ability to monitor them remotely;
  • simplified access for routine and non-routine maintenance;
  • compliance with fire safety regulations and operational reliability in an industrial setting using waste-derived fuels (CSS).

Idroelettrica's proposal

Following a technical site inspection and consultation with the designer, Idroelettrica proposed the supply and installation of a FIREBOX module to serve as a centralized pumping station. Key points of the solution:
  • prefabricated FIREBOX module with access panels for maintenance and inspection;
  • a modern pumping system designed to serve the entire complex, equipped with industrial-grade components to ensure uninterrupted operation;
  • capability to integrate with remote monitoring systems and connect to line PLCs for signaling and centralized control;
  • internal piping and connections within the module for freeze protection and greater durability;
  • Comprehensive testing of the pumping station and commissioning, including calibration based on the site’s operating conditions.

The Result

The project led to a significant simplification of the plant layout: obsolete units were replaced by a single station, reducing operating and maintenance costs and improving operational oversight. The FIREBOX solution, integrated with PLCs and remote monitoring, ensured regulatory compliance, greater reliability, and rapid, centralized emergency management for the entire complex.
