Grilli Clarice Water System

Grilli Clarice, a company specializing in the processing and marketing of fruits and vegetables, has entered into a partnership with Miname Sarl (Senegal) to ensure uninterrupted production during the winter months. To support local cultivation and production activities, a comprehensive project was undertaken involving drilling and the installation of a pressurization system capable of ensuring adequate flow rate and head.

Client requirements

It was necessary to establish a reliable water source and a pressurization system capable of supplying the agricultural area of MINAME SARL (Mont Rollant, Thies region). Main requirements:
  • Required flow rate: 250 m³/hour;
  • required elevation gain: 140 m;
  • maximum energy efficiency and operational reliability;
  • reduction in maintenance costs and frequency;
  • adaptation to local conditions and industry-specific technical regulations.

Idroelettrica's proposal

Following pumping tests to assess the water resource and the behavior of the aquifer, Idroelettrica designed and supplied the implementation solution, consisting of:
  • drilling and construction of an artesian well capable of meeting the required performance standards;
  • supply of a 132-kW electric pump, sized to deliver 250 m³/h at a Head of 140 m;
  • electrical control panel with a 160-kW inverter equipped with a sine-wave filter and a pressure transducer for precise control of the flow rate and system protection;
  • on-site startup and calibration following pump tests to optimize performance and energy consumption;
  • solutions designed for durability and ease of operation in local agricultural settings.

The result

An artesian well was constructed on land granted for use, which meets the required water flow rate (250 m³/h at 140 m). The use of pumps with inverters has resulted in:
  • energy savings and more efficient operation;
  • less maintenance and a longer system lifespan;
  • ability to meet the increased water demand resulting from the introduction of new crops. The project also contributed to the social and economic development goals of the region supported by the client.
