Case Study
Pivetti Mills

Molini Pivetti has launched a corporate plan to bring all of the group’s facilities into compliance, with the goal of ensuring employee safety and protecting the facilities in accordance with current rules. Idroelettrica has been tasked with analyzing the client requirements and providing appropriate fire safety solutions for four locations, starting with the headquarters in Renazzo.

Client requirements

The client requested:
  • Bringing the fire safety systems at all of the group’s facilities into compliance with rules;
  • reliable and easy-to-maintain solutions tailored to the mills’ production characteristics;
  • effective protection for production facilities and storage areas;
  • After-sales service and routine maintenance guaranteed over time.

Idroelettrica's proposal

Following site inspections and technical assessments, Idroelettrica supplied specialized fire suppression systems for the four facilities. For the Renazzo headquarters, the following was proposed and installed:
  • an external prefabricated module containing a pressurization unit in a sub-sash configuration;
  • vertical-axis semi-axial pumps (VTP – Vertical Turbine Pumps), selected for their reliability under the operating conditions typical of flour mills;
  • Hydraulic design tailored to local client requirements: design flow rate of 72 m³/h and head of 80 m.w.c.;
  • a module designed for accessibility and maintenance, with components selected for durability and ease of servicing;
  • On-site commissioning and testing plan, including staff training and the establishment of an after-sales service.

The Result

The solution proposed by Idroelettrica ensured:
  • regulatory compliance of the facilities at the four plants;
  • compliance with hydraulic requirements (72 m³/h at 80 m.w.c.) and operational reliability;
  • better after-sales service and maintenance, reducing downtime and operating costs;
  • Customer satisfaction, as the customer has identified Idroelettrica as a technical partner capable of handling both the supply and after-sales service.

With Idroelettrica’s proposal, we have completely resolved the problem with the pump units. We have implemented this solution at various plants, and it offers great versatility. Supplying not only the pumps but also the fully equipped housing structure is a huge advantage in terms of installation time. We should also not overlook the possibility of relocating the solution to other areas of the plant should modifications become necessary.
