As part of a major expansion project for the headquarters’ retail store—aimed at increasing the number of cutting stations and the storage capacity for cheese wheels—the Ponte di Barbarano Cooperative Dairy requested the installation of a compliant, integrated fire suppression system. Commercial innovations—such as an app for online ordering and pickup—have made it essential to ensure maximum safety for customers, staff, and production processes.
Client requirements
It was necessary to equip the site with a fire suppression system that:
complies with applicable regulations;
ensure the timely detection of critical conditions;
would protect both the production area and the adjoining retail store;
provide direct and easy access for routine maintenance;
could be installed in a way that minimizes interference with sales and production activities.
Idroelettrica's proposal
Following a site inspection and consultation with the designer and installer, Idroelettrica supplied and installed a FIREBOX module—a prefabricated utility room with direct access—equipped with:
an electric pump sized to meet the site’s client requirements;
emergency motor pump;
jockey pump for maintaining system pressure;
Comprehensive testing of the pumping station upon completion of installation.
The decision to choose the FIREBOX was based on its accessibility, reliability, and the speed with which maintenance can be performed.
The Result
The system we supplied fully met the customer’s expectations: the pumping station complies with the latest regulations, is effective at detecting critical conditions, and ensures maximum safety for the plant and the retail outlet. The installation also allowed retail sales to continue uninterrupted and supported the new reservation/pickup procedure.
