Residenza Paradiso – Paradiso Social Cooperative

The project to expand and renovate the “Residenza Paradiso” social and healthcare facility involved relocating from its historic location in Lozzolo to the new facility in Gattinara (Via Fiume Sesia No. 4). The new long-term care facility spans two floors and comprises two units, each with 20 beds plus 4 “emergency care” beds, for a total of 48 beds, intended for both independent and dependent seniors. The project also includes a gym for gentle exercise and functional rehabilitation, as well as a 750 m² rooftop garden. In this context, the fire protection system had to be reliable, easy to maintain, and scaled to cover the entire facility.

Client requirements

The client required a fire protection system capable of:
  • protect the entire social and healthcare complex on two levels;
  • ensure a highly reliable water supply, which is essential in facilities with vulnerable residents;
  • adopt a bottom-feed configuration to reduce inlet/priming issues;
  • to facilitate maintenance and inspections, with easy access to components;
  • Comply with regulatory requirements, specifically UNI EN 12845 (Section 10.6.1).

Idroelettrica's proposal

To meet these requirements, Idroelettrica proposed a FIREBOX VTP fire suppression system, featuring VTP (Vertical Turbine Pumps). The choice of VTP technology made it possible to implement a SUB-FLOOR hydraulic layout, in accordance with the provisions and preferences of UNI EN 12845, 10.6.1.Key points of the solution:
  • vertical submersible pumps, ideal for supplying water from a reserve;
  • a sub-sink configuration that eliminates the priming issues typical of traditional solutions;
  • There are no significant limitations related to the usable depth of the water reservoir, making this solution flexible during the design and installation phases.

The Result

The installation of the FIREBOX VTP has made maintenance and inspection tasks simpler and safer: the unit features a fully opening roof, facilitating access to components and reducing service time. The solution has ensured reliability, regulatory compliance, and a high standard of service, to the full satisfaction of both the customer and the technical team.
